Description
Multi-Purpose Primer - Gallon - Low VOC
Professional-Grade Surface Preparation for Pond Liner Seaming
The Atlantic Multi-Purpose Primer (Low VOC) is an essential component for any pond professional or serious DIYer performing liner repairs or joining multiple EPDM sheets. This specialized primer is formulated to clean and prep the surface of EPDM pond liners simultaneously, creating an optimal surface for the application of seam tapes, cover strips, and flashing.
The "Low VOC" (Volatile Organic Compound) formula is designed to meet strict environmental regulations while providing the same industrial-strength bonding performance as traditional primers. This makes it safer for the installer and the surrounding environment without sacrificing the integrity of the seal.
Key Features:
-
One-Step Prep: Acts as both a cleaner and a primer, stripping away factory dust and oils to reveal a "tacky" surface that guarantees a superior bond.
-
Low VOC Formula: Engineered to comply with environmental standards, reducing harmful emissions during application.
-
Maximum Bond Strength: Specifically designed to work with Atlantic and other major EPDM liner tapes and adhesives for a permanent, watertight seal.
-
High Coverage: The one-gallon container provides ample material for large-scale projects, including long pond seams and complex waterfall transitions.
-
Professional Quality: Manufactured by Atlantic, a leader in water garden technology, ensuring reliability for critical infrastructure.

Why Use a Specialized Primer? In pond construction, the most common point of failure is a poorly executed seam. Standard household cleaners or simple water cannot properly prepare EPDM for a permanent bond. The Multi-Purpose Primer chemically alters the surface of the liner on a microscopic level, ensuring that the adhesive tape becomes an integral part of the liner itself. For any project involving seams or repairs, using this primer is the difference between a lifetime seal and a recurring leak.
Application Tip: Use a heavy-duty scrub pad (like a QuickScrub pad) to apply the primer. Scrub until the surface is a consistent dark gray/black color with no visible dust or streaks. Allow the primer to become "tacky" to the touch before applying seam tape. Do not apply tape to wet primer.
Safety Warning: Flammable liquid. Use in well-ventilated areas. Wear appropriate protective gear, including gloves and eye protection, during application. Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames.
