OASE ProfiClear Premium XL Moving Bed Module
High-Capacity Biological Filtration for Massive Water Features
The OASE ProfiClear Premium XL Moving Bed Module is a critical component of the OASE ProfiClear modular filtration system, designed to provide exceptional biological water treatment for large-scale koi ponds and water gardens.
Utilizing advanced "moving bed" technology, this module provides an ideal environment for beneficial bacteria to thrive. By keeping the filter media in constant motion, it ensures maximum oxygenation and surface area contact, allowing the bacteria to efficiently break down ammonia and nitrites—the primary toxins in fish waste.
Key Features:
-
Massive Waste Digestion: Comes equipped with 60 liters of OASE PondPads, a specialized high-surface-area media capable of digesting up to 45.5 ounces of fish waste per day.
-
Enhanced Aeration: Features a pre-installed aerator bar that connects to an external air pump (such as the AquaOxy 450, sold separately). This keeps the media in a turbulent "moving bed" state and ensures the biofilm remains active and debris-free.
-
Innovative Bypass Technology: Built-in bypass valves optimize the movement of the PondPads media, ensuring consistent performance even at high flow rates.
-
Modular Design: Seamlessly connects to the ProfiClear Premium XL Drum Filter and other modules in the XL series to create a customized filtration circuit tailored to your pond’s specific needs.
-
Low Maintenance: The moving bed design is largely self-cleaning, as the constant friction between the media pieces prevents excessive sludge buildup.

How It Works: Water enters the module from the Drum Filter (mechanical stage). Inside, the PondPads media is tumbled by air bubbles from the integrated aerator. This tumbling action serves two purposes: it provides the beneficial bacteria with the oxygen they need to thrive and creates a self-cleaning effect that sloughs off old, dead bacteria to make room for active, young colonies.
Installation Tip: For maximum efficiency, ensure the air pump used for the aerator is placed in a well-ventilated area. If your fish load increases over time, the module can be upgraded with additional PondPads to further increase its biological processing capacity.
