 Pond netting has can be used for two different puposes, keeping leaves and predators out of your pond. In the fall many pond owners deal with leaves, if the leaves land on the pond and are not removed within a few minutes they will sink to the bottom which in return can cause clairty problems and lowers oxygen. Clean up form this can be time consuming and messy. The best solution is to cover your pond ahead of time anchoring down the netting with stacks. The netting will have to be filped over peridicly depending on the leaf load on top of the netting.
Another reason to use pond netting is to keep out predators such as Blue Heron, Racoons, and ect. Many pond owner face this problem and the only sure way to keep them out is to put up netting. Blue Herons, due to the nature of the bird need to land on shore before going into a pond, they are not able to land in the water. Therefor you must also make sure the side of the pond are anchored down well.
